Ivan Estegneev Program Bio 2007 – American Dance Festival Program in North Carolina Ivan Estegneev was born in 1980. He started to attend dance classes at the age of fourteen in the town of Novorossiysk. In 2000, he entered the department of choreography of the St Petersburg University of Humanities and Social Sciences. Since then, he continues to attend master classes at festivals and summer schools in Moscow and St. Petersburg. In 2002, together with Eugenie Kulagin, he founded Dialog Dance, a modern dance company and school in Kostroma, which he currently heads. He is the creative force behind all company’s projects, including programs in dance and motion therapy, master classes with visiting teachers, and the dance festivals TANZ dialogi and diVERSIA. Estegneev is the lead choreographer and a dancer for all performances by Dialog Dance. The company’s productions have been presented at numerous dance festivals both in Russia and abroad. Career Updates Estegneev was invited to return to ADF in the summer of 2008, along with Dialogue Dance co-founder, Evgeny Kulagin. The dancers will participate in the International Choreographers Residency Program, where they will have the opportunity to teach master classes, show their work, and audition for repertory and performance ensembles. Following their stay at ADF, the duo will spend one week in New York. This will be the first opportunity for Dialogue Dance to present repertory work in the United States. In addition, Estegneev, making full use of the relationships forged while on the Open World program, hosted ADF faculty member Ming-Lung Yang for a two-week teaching residency at the Dialogue Dance School in Kostroma. The residency was part of the ADF Russia Linkage program, which nurtures the development of modern dance in Russia and trains potential teachers.
